Bio

As well as being a precise, creative and eclectic musician, Brazilian guitarist Marcelo Nami also stands out as a composer and producer. Born and raised in Barra do Piraí, a small town in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Nami has been fascinating his audiences since his childhood, when, at the age of seven, he played the works of composers such as Bach, Ernesto Nazareth and Villa-Lobos.

Having studied at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music (Conservatório Brasileiro de Música) with teachers Cláudio Dauelsberg, Edu Morelembaum, Marcos Leite, Nelson Faria, Roberto Gnatalli and Yuri Popoff, among others, Marcelo Nami enriches Brazilian instrumental music with his works, arrangements and interpretations of MPB (Brazilian Pop Music) and jazz classics.

Since the beginning of his twenty-year-old career, Nami has been playing with many Brazilian and foreign artists such as Ana Costa, Cláudia Telles, Denise Reis, Diogo Nogueira, Elymar Santos, Maria Creuza, Pery Ribeiro and Yoni Rechter. He has also been on stage with Alcione, Ângela Maria, Belo, Beth Carvalho, Chico Buarque, Cristina Mel, Dominguinhos, Dudu Nobre, Elba Ramalho, George Israel, Hamilton de Holanda, Leila Pinheiro, Mara Maravilha, Marcelo D2, Mart’nália, and Zélia Duncan and he has toured Brazil and several other countries.
